Abdulrazak Gurnah’s Paradise Comes Home as Peponi

Nobel Laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah has officially launched the Swahili translation of his award-winning novel Paradise, now titled Peponi, in Dar es Salaam. This marks the first time his work has been translated into an African language—Swahili—by Ida Hadjivayanis and published by Mkuki na Nyota. The Tanzanian government plans to introduce Peponi in schools, celebrating a powerful return of storytelling rooted in our own history and language.
