The World of Women – Tanzania

Edited by Carin Salerno and Elisabeth Thorens. The first edition in The World of Women collection, a series that discovers the world through the eyes and experiences of women and brings to light their unique role and contribution in their country. The Tanzania edition includes a map presenting four touristic destinations with brief descriptions of the greater geographic, economic, and cultural contexts, helping readers understand the environment in which the women live. Women tell their stories in the first person, accompanied by beautiful photos and original illustrations. The book highlights women talking about coffee harvesting in the Kilimanjaro region, creating jewellery in Maasai land, seaweed harvesting in Zanzibar, Tinga-Tinga painting in Dar es Salaam, and international criminal justice in Arusha. Practical travel information includes addresses of women-owned hotels, restaurants, and travel agencies. A collaboration between Éditions d’en bas (Lausanne) and Women in action Worldwide.
