Sibomana worked tirelessly for independent investigations into human rights violations in Rwanda, one of very few independent voices unafraid of speaking out against abuses by past and present Rwandan governments. The book confronts many of the preconceptions in Western portrayals of events, addressing the role of the church in the genocide, the failure of the international community to prevent the massacres, and the human rights record of the new Rwandan government. Despite the horrors, Sibomana offers a strong vision of hope for Rwanda’s future and for humanity. First published to acclaim in France; this edition includes a new postscript. Sibomana died in Rwanda in 1998.
