Higher Education in Tanzania

A case study of higher education in Tanzania, part of a series of studies commissioned by the Partnership for Higher Education in Africa covering Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa. The studies aimed to stimulate enlightened, equitable, and knowledge-based national development, and to serve as guides for understanding the state and potential of African higher education. This volume focuses on the University of Dar es Salaam, examining the reforms it has put in place to halt institutional decay and better fulfil its core functions, and noting the unity and commitment within its leadership that has attracted both government and donor support.
